Joyce Stilson, CMT (Curricula Developer & Instructor): Since graduating from the Arizona School of Massage Therapy - a member of the Utah College of Massage Therapy Family of Schools (UCMTFOS) - in December of 2001, Joyce Stilson has worked in many areas of the massage industry, although her passion has been education.

Joyce began working as a Teaching Assistant (TA) in February 2002, working with a variety of instructors and modalities. Joyce has worked as a TA in many courses, including Massage Therapy Basics, Advanced Massage, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Shiatsu, and Acupressure. In March 2003, Joyce was promoted to the position of adjunct instructor and nine months later to a full-time instructor (in December, 2003). In 2004, she worked briefly as the Faculty Coordinator. At this time, Joyce found herself drawn less to the administrative side, and more to the teaching side of the education process, so she returned to the class room. Joyce has worked for UCMTFOS, both at the Arizona School of Massage Therapy (ASMT), Tempe Campus, as well as at the Denver School of Massage Therapy (DSMT), Westminster Campus. She taught Massage Therapy Basics, Advanced Massage, Shiatsu, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Acupressure, Reflexology, Hydrotherapy and Spa Preparation, Trigger Point Therapy, and Professional Development. She recently resigned her position in order to focus on building a private practice and work with Essential Education Services, so she could continue her passion for educating therapists.

During her time with UCMTFOS, Joyce had the opportunity to assist with curriculum development, helping to revise the Acupressure and Shiatsu lesson plans and manuals. She has also stayed current with the industry, receiving continuing education in Reiki, Thai Massage, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Tui Na, Aromatherapy, Hot Stone Massage, and Raindrop Therapy. She is certified in Touch for Health, Intuitive Cranial Sacral I and II, Table Thai, Internal Organ Massage I, Hot Stone Massage and Rock ‘N Rain.

Having worked in a chiropractic office and in two Radisson Resort spas while managing a private practice, Joyce is able to bring real-world experience to any classroom setting.
